Preservation
Research by the Partnership annually documents California’s severe housing shortage, and demonstrates the importance of preserving existing affordable properties that are real people’s homes and typically cost at least a third less to acquire and rehabilitate than to replace. The California Housing Partnership partners with tenant advocates, legal services attorneys, local governments and nonprofit housing providers across the state to identify at-risk properties and develop targeted strategies to preserve long-term affordability for current residents. Our work ensures that vulnerable renters, including seniors, families, and people with special needs, can remain in safe, stable housing.
