California Housing Market Could Change Under New Bill
By Giulia Carbonaro, Newsweek
A new bill introduced by a California Democrat wants to stabilize and bolster the state’s affordable housing market by acquiring and rehabilitating existing units, while also preventing the displacement of low-income residents.
Anna Caballero, who represents California Senate District 14, introduced Senate Bill 1091 on February 13 with the backing of state Senator Christopher Cabaldon and state Assemblymember Matt Haney, two Democrats who co-authored the proposal.
She called the proposal “one important step to avoid displacement, homelessness, and to stabilize families in their communities in homes they can afford.”
